Habersham, GA – Five People, Including Two Children Killed in Fiery Car Accident

Habersham, Georgia (July 17, 2023) – Five people were killed in a collision in Habersham County on Sunday afternoon.

The fatal crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Tommy Irvin Parkway near Mt. Zion Road.

According to investigators, a Ford Explorer was attempting to cross the highway onto Mt. Zion Road when a Corvette crashed into the front.

The Corvette and the SUV both caught fire, killing everyone inside.

Police have identified the driver of the Explorer as a 29-year-old female. She was accompanied by two young children, ages five and six.

A 58 year old male from Marietta and another unidentified person were both in the Corvette.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said that the woman and two children in the Explorer were the wife and children of one of their deputies.

During a Habersham County Board of Commissioners meeting, the Sheriff discussed the tragedy with commissioners.

After stating that one of their deputies lost his family because the driver of the Corvette was speeding in excess of 150mph, he said that  the safety of the crossovers have been an issue for years.

During his speech, the board mostly nodded in agreement. Commissioners then urged the public to contact their state representatives and ask for assistance.

I met with Harry Brown personally and he sat with me for 20 minutes at our initial consultation to explain everything. He even called after my surgery to see how I was doing. I met with him several more times after that and was kept informed about my case throughout. I highly recommend Harry Brown as an attorney.

Fatal Car Accidents in Georgia

Learning that a close friend or relative has died or been seriously injured in a car accident is many people’s worst nightmare. The untimely death of a loved one is likely to result in financial and emotional hardship.

If a person is injured in a car accident caused by another driver’s negligence, they have the legal right to file a personal injury claim and seek compensation. They have a claim for any direct costs incurred as a result of the accident.

If the accident victim dies as a result of their injuries, the victim’s surviving family members may sue the at-fault driver for wrongful death.

The family may file a wrongful death lawsuit in order to receive financial support for funeral expenses and emotional suffering caused by their loved one’s untimely death.

When a family member dies as a result of someone else’s negligence, the last thing on your mind is probably dealing with an insurance claim or filing a wrongful death lawsuit. You must always act quickly because the statute of limitations severely limits the amount of time you have to file a wrongful death claim.

A wrongful death attorney will make certain that you are compensated for the following:

  • Funeral and Burial Expenses

  • Loss of Future Income
  • Loss of Consortium
  • Lost Wages
  • Emotional Trauma
