Atlanta, GA – Police Search for SUV Involved in a Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Accident
Atlanta, GA (November 16, 2022) – The Atlanta Police Department is actively searching for the driver who struck a teen girl and left her with serious injuries.
Even though it’s been more than a week since the incident took place in the Virginia Highland neighborhood, the victim is still being treated in the burn unit at Grady.
On November 7, according to the victim’s father, his daughter was injured in a hit-and-run accident near the intersection of Lanier Boulevard and North Virginia Avenue. He claimed that she was dragged for more than 60 feet during the hit-and-run incident.
The victim’s parents are living a parent’s worst nightmare. Their 17-year-old daughter now needs multiple surgeries.
Her father stated, “they hit her, knew they hit her, and they dragged her 68 feet over the asphalt and left her to die.”
The victim was wearing jeans and Adidas shoes at the time of the accident. Both are now torn and worn. In the days following the hit-and-run, her mother stated that blue jean fibers could be seen in the drag marks that were left on the road.
A video of the incident that occurred close to the intersection of Lanier Boulevard and North Virginia Avenue was made public by the Atlanta Police Department. It displayed a light-colored SUV that investigators believe was involved in the hit-and-run that occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. on the night in question.
The victim’s father said that “as you watch the videos, you can see when she gets hit, you can see the car kind of jars, and then you can hear her being drug.”
The victim’s parents have pleaded with locals to look through any surveillance footage they may have on their cameras in the hopes of catching another glimpse of the hit-and-run vehicle.
The victim’s father said the person responsible needs to be caught and answer for what they did.
Police and the family ask anyone with information or video to call investigators immediately.
I met with Harry Brown personally and he sat with me for 20 minutes at our initial consultation to explain everything. He even called after my surgery to see how I was doing. I met with him several more times after that and was kept informed about my case throughout. I highly recommend Harry Brown as an attorney.
Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Accidents in which pedestrians are involved present a significant risk. Due to the fact that a car can cause a great deal of damage to an unprotected person even when it is moving slowly, pedestrian accidents are typically more serious than other types of accidents. Nearly all accidents involving pedestrians result in injuries, and many of them result in fatalities.
Accidents involving pedestrians are dealt with by the law in the same manner as motor vehicle collisions. Accident victims and family members of victims have the legal right to seek compensation for any losses they incurred from the accident.
Even though pedestrians typically have the right of way, they can still sometimes be to blame for the accident. Pedestrians who cross the street illegally or suddenly and without warning may be partially or entirely at fault for the collision, even if they are the ones who sustained severe injuries as a result.
If it is determined that the pedestrian was at fault for the accident, the driver of the car may be entitled to compensation for the expenses they incurred as a result, such as the cost of repairing the vehicle. It is customarily determined that the driver of the vehicle was at least partially responsible for the accident that took place with the pedestrian. This is due to the fact that drivers have a responsibility to be watchful of pedestrians and to give way to them when appropriate.
