Lake City, GA – Woman Killed by Forklift

Lake City, Georgia (March 22, 2023) – On Wednesday, a woman was killed in what appears to be a freak accident at a business that stores vehicles that have been in accidents or have been repossessed.

According to the Lake City Police Department, a woman went to Insurance Auto Auction on Rex Road to retrieve some personal items from a repossessed car.

The woman was going through the items in front of a gate when a forklift carrying a car came through and ran her over. According to police, the woman was killed “pretty much instantly.”

Because of the forklift’s size, the operator was unaware he had hit the woman until he returned across the street after unloading the car.

At this time, it is unknown whether he blew his horn as is customary before driving through the gate or if he did and the woman ignored it.

The police department does not anticipate filing any criminal charges at this time because no evidence of intent or criminal negligence was discovered.

I met with Harry Brown personally and he sat with me for 20 minutes at our initial consultation to explain everything. He even called after my surgery to see how I was doing. I met with him several more times after that and was kept informed about my case throughout. I highly recommend Harry Brown as an attorney.

Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia

Pedestrian accidents are extremely dangerous. They are usually more serious than other types of accidents because a car, even at a slow speed, can cause significant damage to an unprotected person. This raises the possibility of pedestrian fatalities. Almost every pedestrian accident causes injury, and a significant number of them cause wrongful death.

Pedestrian accidents are investigated and handled similarly to car accidents. Accident victims and their families have the legal right to seek monetary compensation for any losses sustained as a result of the accident.

Despite having the right of way, pedestrians are sometimes held responsible for accidents. Even if they suffer severe injuries as a result of the collision, pedestrians who cross the street illegally, unexpectedly, and without warning may be partially or entirely to blame.

If the pedestrian caused the collision, the driver of the car may be entitled to compensation for accident-related expenses, such as the cost of having the car repaired.

When a vehicle strikes a pedestrian, the driver is usually found to be at least partially to blame. This is due to the fact that it is the responsibility of drivers to keep an eye out for pedestrians.
