Deadly Tractor Trailer Accident in Georgia
Commercial Trucks are extremely large and heavy vehicles that can cause far-reaching and lethal accidents. When a crash occurs due to truck driver negligence, the victims are entitled to fight for compensation for their injuries and damages that were inflicted.
When a person loses their life in a truck accident, no amount of compensation can replace their loss and often there is a long legal process before the negligent party is convicted of a crime.
After a year of waiting, a Truck Driver from Louisiana was indicted on criminal charges including five counts of first-degree vehicular homicide for crashing and killing five nursing students in Georgia last year.
The crash occurred in April of 2015 West of Savannah, GA. The tractor-trailer driver was in stop-and-go traffic when he slammed into the vehicle that was carrying the five nursing students from Georgia Southern University.
Prosecutors tried to file charges against the trucking company as well as the driver. However, those charges were recently dropped.
