Cowetta County, GA – Tow Truck Driver Killed in Multiple Vehilce Accident

Cowetta County, Georgia (March 15, 2023) – A tow truck driver was killed on the job Wednesday morning on the northbound side of Interstate 85 at mile marker 40 in Coweta County, according to authorities.

According to Georgia State Troopers, the 49-year-old tow truck driver was cleaning up a crash with emergency crews around 7 a.m. Wednesday. Investigators believe a driver going too fast for the conditions swerved to avoid fire trucks and rolled over, striking the tow truck driver.

A deputy was also hurt, but he is expected to recover.

Authorities arrested the 31-year-old man who struck and killed the tow truck driver.

The fatal collision occurred just feet away from an overhead sign that reads, ‘State Law: Move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles.’

Those in the wrecker business say the law is there to prevent crashes like this.

The 31-year-old is facing multiple charges including vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and a violation of the move-over law.

Although every state has “Move-Over” laws, AAA reports that each year, approximately 24 emergency responders, including tow truck drivers, are struck and killed across the country.

I met with Harry Brown personally and he sat with me for 20 minutes at our initial consultation to explain everything. He even called after my surgery to see how I was doing. I met with him several more times after that and was kept informed about my case throughout. I highly recommend Harry Brown as an attorney.

Fatal Car Accidents in Georgia

A close friend or family member dying or suffering life-threatening injuries in a car accident is everyone’s worst nightmare. After a loved one is killed in a car accident, a family may face both financial and emotional hardship.

A person injured in a car accident caused by another driver’s negligence has the legal right to file a personal injury claim and seek compensation from the negligent driver. They have a claim for any direct expenses incurred as a result of the accident.

If an accident victim dies as a result of their injuries, the victim’s surviving family members may sue the at-fault driver for wrongful death. The family of the deceased will be able to seek justice for their loved one.

The family can file a wrongful death lawsuit to seek financial compensation for funeral expenses and emotional distress caused by their loved one’s untimely death.

When a member of your family is killed as a result of someone else’s negligence, the thought of settling an insurance claim or filing a wrongful death lawsuit is probably the last thing on your mind. However, the statute of limitations severely limits the amount of time you have to file a wrongful death claim.

A Wrongful Death Lawyer will ensure that you receive the following compensation:

  • Funeral and Burial Expenses
  • Medical Expenses
  • Lost Wages
  • Loss of Future Income
  • Loss of Consortium
  • Emotional Trauma

If a family member was killed in a car accident, you should contact a Wrongful Death Attorney right away. Without the assistance of a lawyer, obtaining the compensation you are owed can be very difficult.
